Just like humans, there is a shortage of blood components for cats, and one donation from a cat can save up to 2 lives. At Rocky Mountain Blood Services LLC, you can enroll your cat in a blood donor program and earn money while helping other animals in need. Read on to learn more!
To have your cat qualify as a blood donor, he or she must meet the following requirements:
- Well-behaved and friendly
- Minimum of 10 lbs.
- Between 1 and 9 years of age
- Current on all vaccinations and free of infectious diseases
- No history of previous blood transfusions
- Willing to donate up to 6 times a year
Your cat will be screened for any metabolic
abnormalities, feline leukemia, feline
infectious peritonitis, feline
immunodeficiency virus, and blood type.
This prescreen is at no cost to you. You’ll
receive an annual reimbursement of $100
once your donor has completed 6 donations.
You must provide any receipts from routine
veterinary care costs in order to receive
If you choose to continue in the program
after your donor has successfully completed
6 donations, another routine blood screen
will be required before continuing.
